summer plan...where are you?

Last summer I was all over it...I had our summer plan planned before school ended...
I knew how to make our summer not too boring, and not to scheduled and we had a wonderful summer...

We are 2 weeks into summer and I keep thinking I need to look at last years plan...so I finally did, this morning...wow I was on top of it!

We did start the summer by camping on the Oregon Coast {only a 7 hr drive on the last day of school!}...

I can also see how things are a little different this summer but I still like the basic idea...and to top it off the kids and I have been brainstorming some 'bucket list' ideas, things we want to do before summer is over!

Here is our plan for summer this year...

*Swim Team again...and boy to they love it {sarcasm!}, it's a little earlier this year starting at 8 rather than 8:30 and that 30 min make a HUGE deal...there have been 4 practices so far and my kids have made 2 of them, {that's 50%}...I'm buckling down on bed times this week so they can actually wake up...and by 'buckling down' they need to be in bed by 9:30, last week they were getting in bed after 11, it was CRA.ZA.Y! around here, we took the whole "Schools out for Summer!" and lost it a little!
anyways, M-W-F an hour in the pool...it's great for them!

*Summer Reading Program...they are signed up for the reading program at the library, and the boy child will participate in the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading again {it only goes to 6th grade and girl child is going into 7th!...so disappointed in B&N for not continuing to reward and encourage older kids to read!}.  The reading is actually huge this summer, the girl child got reading glasses the last day of school,

that coupled with the 'reward' for completing the Library Summer Reading {for teens} is that they are entered into a drawing for a Kindle...she has had her nose in a book most afternoons, this.is.not.normal!  I usually have to encourage reading using various little tricks, but I have actually said to her, "you need to put that book down!"  Seriously, this is a sentence I never thought I would utter in my life to her, I am so blissfully excited about her reading!!!

*Piano...summer is the easiest time of year for them to buckle down and actually get in ALL of their daily piano practicing and listening {they have a CD that they are supposed to listen to daily}...and it helps me when they are begging to watch something or play a video game to say, "have you done your piano yet?"...

*Summer Journal...I didn't do this last summer and it was obvious when school started up again that they weren't use to writing...we have always done summer journals, not sure why I flaked last summer, and when Wilson was too young to journal he had a summer doodle book, where he would draw things he had done.

*Limited Screen Time...I know it's summer and summer is all about zoning out and losing yourself in tv right?  wrong...I HATE the kids to be zoned out in front of that thing!  But I also know it's summer so I relax my tone just a bit.  They are allowed 30 min screen time before they have to do their reading and piano for the day, and then after that I will look at our day and decide if they need/can have any more screen time....but also depending on the day we may be too busy for them to have their 30 min before reading & piano and I may use it as a reward for them getting all their tasks done and with a good attitude.

Now for our weekly 'schedule' {I use that term loosely, it is summer}
Movie Monday's...either a trip to the 'dollar theater' or a movie at home.

Work Day Tuesday's...this is the day we will pack up and I will drag them into work with me {they can take their bikes and ride in the HUGE empty parking lot}!  And then when we get home they will do any 'work' they need to around the house above and beyond their normal daily chores {clean bathrooms, organize bedrooms, help to clean the garage, weeding, etc}...I figured we should get this done earlier in the week...help the rest of the week go more smoothly.

Activity Wednesday...their piano lessons are early {right after swim and before lunch} so we have the whole afternoon to do whatever, this is one of the days we'll try to check items off our bucket list.  This is also the day that the library has activities planned that correlate with their summer reading program...
And of course it's church night, this is a great night for them to have a friend spend the night because they can come to church with us {or pick them up from church} and bonus no swim team Thursday morning so they can play all they want on Thursday.

Bucket List Thursday...I will let the kids sleep in while I head into work and get a few hours of stuff done, my goal is to be home by 10:30 on Thursdays...then we will do an item or two from our bucket list, we'll probably choose the items at the beginning of the week so we can plan accordingly.

Family Fridays...Friday is Beau's day off so we will treat it like a Saturday and just do whatever needs to be done or whatever we want to do....hopefully we can also check off more bucket list ideas on these days.

to create the Bucket List I opened up my pinterest and had the kids look over ideas I had pinned in 'School Vacation,' 'Yum - Cookies,' & 'Craft Ideas'...and other ideas were just theirs...

and now the Bucket List!!!

just in case you can't read the list above or want links to some of the ideas...

flubber ... Paper beads … Glitter play dough ...  paint rocksGlow in the dark slimeNewspaper fort ... Bubble week {giant bubbles, bubble blowers, bubble snake}... Water blobBleach t-shirts ... Soda can jewelry ... Duct tape purse & Walletpaint t-shirts ...  homemade tootsie rolls... homemade nutter butters ... Make pudding pops ... Make butter ... make bagels... Bake treats for neighbors ... film a cooking show ... Circus animal cookie truffles … Berry picking ... Kayak {picnic on an island}... Bowling ... Museum ... Zoo beach {sand castles} ... go to the snow {Lassen National Park usually still has snow in late July}... Bumpass Hell ... Sun River {we usually go to Sun River every summer with my in-laws, great summer place}... bike river trail ... Build a catapult ... Make sling shots ... origami ...  Fireworks
.....
so that's our summer...
do you try to organize your summer with a plan or do you just let it happen?

Tour of Nativities

My Tour of Nativities continues with one of our first nativities.
I bought this the year Beau and I were married (it's our 15th Christmas)...
It's nothing special, I'm sure I picked it up at WalMart or Target...
it's ceramic but durable.
I've always let my kids play with my Nativities...with supervision of course.

I have these mini suitcases in our living room, I use them for decor all year round, and I usually set up one of my nativities on/with the suitcases...I think it's fitting, with all the traveling this little family did!

I've always liked this baby Jesus...so sweet...When Madison was little she would always want to nap with baby Him!

Here is the far away look...it's sharing a table with our fish tank...Jesus can hang with the fish, wasn't he a fisher of men?!?

do you have a special way of displaying your nativities?

Advent Calendar

This is just a short little post to share with you the Advent Calendar I made today.

My mother-in-law sent me this link to the FREE Dayspring Printable Advent Calendar

and I just printed them out on white cardstock,
cut and glued them to colored cardstock on the back and then hung them with clothespins to some greenery that I hung around our entryway...
it's totally simple and easy...
and LOVE the Advent Calendar
all the references are about God's Promises Fulfilled, with a Bible verse and then a prompt about the promise/verse...
example
Dec 3...The Promise of Light "I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."  John 8:12... Where will you walk today in order to bring the Light of the world to the world?
be jealous of my mad photography skills!
The greenery hanging around the entryway with the Advent cards clipped down both sides
can you find the camel in this picture?
again, mad skills!
Close up of one side of the 'calendar'...with the Advent cards clipped..
 cards on other side...
back of cards with scrapbook paper so when we flip a card over after reading it that day it will still look nice.

Starting sometime this week I will start my Nativity Tour...I will show you my collection of Nativities and where/how I display them!

Do you have an  Advent Calendar you use?

November 18

1}  Thankful for the volunteers at church.  I have a team of over 40 people that volunteer for me over the course of a month.  It's amazing to have that many people willing to step up and help in one way or another...to serve the children and families of our church...and that's just the volunteers for the birth-kindergarten ministry...  So Very Thankful!

2}  Thankful for friends having babies and baby showers.  I went to a baby shower today for a good friend who is having her 4th baby in a few weeks.  I love going to baby showers and seeing the showering of love for the mother and her new baby!

3}  Thankful for Sunday 'dinner'...I don't make dinner on Sundays.  NOPE!  It's my night off...usually we have popcorn, cheese, fruit, etc...tonight we passed on the popcorn, had cheese & crackers and then leftover buffet {whatever you want to eat that's leftover in the fridge!} and we eat in the living room...the only night we eat with the tv on!  Everyone should have a night of the week that's just simple.  And guess what, my family loves Sunday Dinner!  It's a tradition and kids love tradition, they love something they can count on especially if it has a bit of whimsy or quirky to it, and they love telling their friends that we have 'popcorn for dinner' on Sunday nights!

November 1

short sweet & to the point...
that's what my November blog is going to be about.
I plan to post 3 things I'm thankful for everyday and not duplicate during the month...
so by November 30th I should have a list of 90 things I'm thankful for.
{check out my math skills}

On the weekends I plan to have my kids add their 3+ things they're thankful for and if I can get him to join me we'll see if Beau will add his thankfulness to the list....he may even do his own list over at his blog...hint, hint, hint!

...as I've stated before...
this blog is for fun and to not take away from my family...
yet I plan to post everyDAY in November...
so, these posts will be short...
they may be 3 paragraphs, they may be 3 sentences...
they may be one sentence, or just 3 words...
the point is just for me to jot down what I am thankful for...

and...the list will be a variety and is in NO particular order...
I'm sure there will be deep, meaningful items on the list...but I'm starting at a very human level today...
these are the 3 things that were in my frontal lobe when I started to type...

I'm thankful for coffee, hot showers and a cozy bed.

p.s. don't google images for hot showers
{especially with your 7 year old son standing next to you!}
...I should have known better!!!

Happy Free-Candy-From-Strangers Day

why, hello there!

also a plastic golden pumpkin in the background looks like it might have eyes, it does not!
yep, I've been blog absent for a whole month...life just got busy, and as I wrote at the beginning of the year, this blog is for fun and it will not take away from my family...so I have been present with my kids and husband and working, and yes, the blog has taken back seat...
Wilson as his Father & Madison as a 6th grade student in 1988!

but I wanted to do a re-post for ya'll on this day...my post about 'Celebrating Halloween' as a Christian...

May Day

May Day...May Day...
it's another ChambersMade family 1st...
we've never really lived in a neighborhood that we could really 'celebrate' May Day...
 now we do...
I've been collecting cans for a few weeks now...
I have a plan for them and this summer...

but I figured I have plenty cleaned & up in the cupboard that I could spare 4 so the kids and I could have a little May Day fun...

we wrapped wire around the groves in the cans and made a handle with the wire...
printed up a little May Day Tag and tied it with twine
and then cut some mini roses off our rose bush...

the kids sneaked up to the doors...
rang the door bell...

and RAN as fast as they could...
...
fun times...
all in all it took 30 minutes...
from creating and printing the tag,
to wrapping the wire around the can and creating a handle
tying the tag onto the can
cutting the roses
and then the delivery...
and cost us $0.00
we will hopefully make this a ChambersMade family tradition...
and hopefully our neighbors are pleasantly surprised by the little can of flowers on the door knob!
have you ever participated/celebrated May Day?

buttermilk pie

...if you're from the south I'm sure you've heard of a Buttermilk Pie...
or at least all my internet investigation of buttermilk pie has led me to believe that it's a staple dessert for all holidays in the south...but if you're like me...
west coast girl all the way
I've never lived more than 100 miles from the Pacific Ocean...
... (I just googled that...I looked up all 3 cites...yes a whoppin' 3 cities and measured how far they were from the Pacific...as a crow flies...& it's probably more like 90 miles, but it didn't sound as good)...
...than you may have never heard about this thing called the Buttermilk Pie...

I just discovered it last week...
while I was standing in the checkout at Wal-Mart...
...at the first of the month (stupid me)
so I picked up some recipe magazine to help wait out the next 45 minutes of my life...
and I stumbled upon an article about traditional Easter menu's
(I have NO idea what magazine I was flipping through)
and there is was this beautifully simple pie...
just looking right at me...
it had this beautiful golden crust with this golden filling
...not 100% a custard filling
...not 100% a cream filling
just a pretty golden filling...

easiest.main dish.EVER!

our normal Easter dinner main dish is Ham...
I love ham...
it's my favorite pig product...
my brother-in-law coined our new favorite term for ham
...dinner bacon....

so anyways...
I make ham about once a year...
which is weird because I do love it so...

anyways...
I pinned a Pomegranate Glaze Ham...
looked good and easy...
but I changed it up a bit and added pineapple....

ready for the easiest recipe ever...

this is NOT my ham
I borrowed the image from google
because I failed to take any pictures on Easter!

Easter Fail

we had a wonderful Easter.
kids loved their Easter baskets
.....with dollar store bad mitten sets
(seriously....I thought they would break after 2 minutes...but they're holding up nicely, they might make it through a whole week!  So worth the $2 I spent on 2 sets...I would have maybe even shelled out $4 for the quality!)

and then off the church, it was a beautiful morning at church
...not that I got to attend either service
doing check-in station beginning of 1st service
...then toddlers the rest of 1st service
....then 3's & 4's 2nd service...with my sweet niece in my class...that was special!
...but I've heard Pastor Stephen preached it yesterday!
I will be listening to the podcast today.

in-between the two services we had a Celebration Cafe with brunch
and then 3 baby dedications
and 17 baptisms...17!!
and one of those 17 was our boy child!
and my Beau had the privileged to baptism him
what a special morning...
& both Beau and I sort of kind-of went into mini little ugly cry's
...but not too bad, we recovered and all was well!

how we do Easter

many of you may know that my husband is a Children's Pastor & that I'm the Early Childhood Director at our church...
so with that knowledge many people ask...
Do we 'do' the Easter Bunny?

(and for that matter Santa, the Tooth Fairy, lepercauns, etc)

Yes...we 'do' the Easter Bunny...and all those others too...

how does that look?
how do we celebrate one of the most sacred (if not the most sacred) holiday on the Christian calendar yet allow a bunny to be part of it?

The same way we let the Big Jolly Elf be part of Christmas.
We don't let either the bunny or the big guy the center attraction on these special Christian days, but they are there...

Dirty Santa...

they are in awe of how big dirty santa is

that's our new tradition...
since target went and closed their garden section...

girl child trying to pop off boy child's head
we were forced last year to find a new Christmas tree getting tradition...
getting our tree at the 'dirty santa' tree lot

their faces were over the top cheese in this pic...
just give me a nice simply smile...please

just to clarify...
we've named him dirty santa...
that's not the actual name of the place....
santa just looks like he could use some oxi clean...
a good long soak in the stuff...
but I get it...
year after year of being out in the nasty elements
and your whites aren't looking so white anymore!

i will love him and squeeze him and call him george
the kids could hardly contain themselves...
we never get a tree this early...
we always wait until after the girl child's birthday...(Dec 2nd)
I never wanted Christmas to crowd her birthday,
making her birthday not as special or something like that...
last year she wanted to know why we waited until after her birthday to get a tree
I explained my reasons...
she disagreed...
having a tree up for her birthday would make it seem more special...
only Dec babies get the opportunity for a Christmas tree up on their birthdays...
well played girl child...
so this year...
lights up...tree up
house decorated for Christmas...
all before December even starts...
I think I'm going to like this new tradition...
this is how I wanted them to pose in front of dirty santa...
but they just couldn't get their acts together and contain themselves for one nice dirty santa shot
dirty santa is a nice tree lot...
mr. tree man...
who thought I was weird when I asked if I could take a picture...
or maybe he just wasn't 'speaking the same english as us'
(boy child's suggestion....
he did seem more native to south of the border...)
anyways...

mr. tree man was very nice and friendly...
talked to me about his grandkids...
how he likes to sell trees because it makes kids and families happy...

he told me how nice and behaved boy and girl child were...
guess he wasn't hearing me yell at remind them to stop being crazy

and extra bonus...our tree came with a name...
a name at no extra cost...
in fact I think the name made it cheaper!...

boy child wanted to sit next to Norman on the way home...keep him safe...
Beau liked the price so much that he was okay with us keeping Norman's name tag on him....

what's your Christmas tree getting tradition?

the bird soup

all the work....
   which I LOVE....
that goes into the the Thanksgiving meal
and one of my favorite parts....
my own personal holiday tradition
....the day after soup!

the recipe in a nut shell
Bird Soup
1 turkey carcass or a a few of the larger bones
lots of water
you can skip the bone boiling stage if that grosses you out and just opt for chicken broth
2 lb bag of carrots, peeled and chopped
entire bunch of celery ( washed and chopped, don't throw out those celery leaves...they have amazing flavor to add to any soup!)
1/2-1 whole chopped onion
any other veggies you want; corn, green beans, broccoli, peas (save the peas till the end), potatoes, brussel sprouts, etc....
a 'dollop' or 2 of gravy
2 scoops or 7 of mashed potatoes
bay leaf
salt and pepper
rice or noodles (optional)

yep, I'm a bone boiler...
we save the turkey carcass (could there be a grosser word?)
and I boil it for hours the next day...
just water
and bones
and whatever meat the vultures family didn't pick off
all go into a pot

bring to a boil and then simmer for at least 1 hour, but 5-6 is great!  just keep adding water when it starts to get low.
then the hour before you're ready to eat, grab another large pot, and put your colander/strainer in the top, pour the boney water through catching all the wonderful broth in the bottom pot,
now return the broth to the stove and add whatever veggies you want (if you have some leftover from a veggie platter that's wonderful to use), I usually put in the 'soup trinity' (carrots, celery, & onions), then add some turkey...lots and lots of turkey (the small stuff that isn't good for sandwiches)... a few dollops of the leftover gravy helps make the soup creamy, leftover mashed potatoes are great (I like to leave the potatoes out and then heat a scoop up in the microwave and scoop the soup over the top of the spuds in the bowl...yummy!)...toss in some salt and pepper to taste and a bay leaf or 2...
if you want rice in the soup toss in a handful about 20 minutes left in the hour, if you prefer noodles toss them in the last 10 minutes....

happy bird soup!

other leftover turkey ideas
turkey salad (like chicken salad...but with turkey...so yummy with cranberry sauce)
turkey enchiladas

what do you do with your turkey leftovers?

the bitter sweet

cranberry relish....
this is way better than any ol' canned cranberry jelly goop...
   ...what is that stuff anyways?

this has becoming a new tradition in our family...
it's a recipe from my sister-in-law's grandmother...
...my husband's, brother's wife....
she shared it with us a few years back
(can't remember now, but maybe 5 years ago?)
my mom made the recipe last year
and this is the first year I've made it...
so yummy...and so easy...
actually I should say the kids made it this year...
I was only in the kitchen for parts of the process
....the big knife process
...and the taking pictures process
girl child cutting and coring the apple
boy child peeling the orange
big knife sitting just haphazardly in the mix!

and this recipe is so simple that I actually walked them thru the recipe from the other room while I folded clothes!
lets pretend that I didn't just yell at them to stop yelling at each other

Grandma Grace Carlson's Cranberry Relish
Prepare at least 2-3 days before using so ingredients blend
1 pkg. cranberries
1 orange, peeled and seeded
1 lemon, peeled and seeded
1 apple, cut and cored, no need to peel
1 16 oz. can crushed pineapple
     (I had a 20 oz can, that I just measured out 16 oz/approx 2 cups)
1 cup sugar

Wash cranberries in colander.  Grind first four ingredients; cranberries, orange, lemon, apple. (Grandma used a meat grinder; food processor is best next option, and probably safer if your leaving the kids unsupervised your letting your kids make the recipe...). Add pineapple, with it's juice, and the sugar to the ground fruit. Let stand 1-2 hours and taste. Add more sugar if needed but keep it fairly tart.
Relish will sweeten some as it stands for a few days.
It will also darken, I was worried, I remembered it being darker, and when the kids were finished it was a pale pink, I think all the air bubbles from the food processing...it darkened up pretty fast, like within an hour...

I doubled the recipe because I think it's a nice gift to 'bottle' up and hand out to friends
lots of cranberry relish
there was one other sm jar already gifted to the piano teacher

if you give as a gift remind them that this needs to be refrigerated....

and then they ate candy

they ate a lot of candy
if fact that was their dinner...
let me explain
some history
we have a holiday-candy-rule in our house

all candy from one holiday must be thrown away on the next holiday

this rule became law for us quite a few years ago after New Years when we were looking around the house at all the bowls of candy and junk food left over from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and then the New Years junk as well...

so this is how it looks ... any holiday that might end up with candy is the house, Halloween is an obvious one,  gets thrown away on the next 'holiday' we use this term lightly...

think any day that mail might not get delivered or that the kids might have something fun planned at school...

so after Halloween we choose Veterans Day as our throw-away-holiday...

  • Thanksgiving candy/junk food/misc desserts still hanging around you can choose Dec 7th (National Pearl Harbor Day) or wait until Hanukkah starts (a different day every year, this year it's Dec 21st), we usually go with the girl child's birthday on December 2nd as our throw-away-day
  • of course Christmas treats get thrown away on New Years
  • New Years on Martin Luther King Jr Day (one of the Mondays in January)
  • Valentines candy gets thrown away on Presidents Day
  • St. Patricks Day Candy (yes we have candy from the leprechauns that reek havoc in our house) gets thrown away on April Fools day...

and those are most of the candy-getting-holidays that we experience in our home and the holidays that we use as our throw-away-days...

we are also a bit on the stingy side when it comes to all that candy and our kids...
they usually haul in a boat load of candy on Halloween (with all the carnivals and the trick-or-treating and school parties), we let them eat a few pieces that night, get one in their lunch box the next day and then usually one for 'dessert' every night until the throw-away-day...
all Halloween candy gets put into one large family candy bowl the day after Halloween...
and then I start throwing away all the gross candy from day one...
I am not a lover of suckers or small hard candy so I'm usually chuckin' those before they hit the candy bowl
and then all the fruity chewy things go next
anything banana flavored is toast -seriously banana flavored candy is NASTY!
cheap chocolate never sees anything but the garage bag

so the above candy rule and some other events listed below led to the crazy parenting choice of candy for dinner....
this year on the Eve of Veterans Day we still had a LOT of candy...
I had not grocery shopped in FOR.EV.ER
I had no desire to create dinner out of thin air
Beau was off to a meeting
there was no school the next day (Veteran's Day)
...
so we called the kids into the kitchen,
showed them the candy bowl...
reminded them of the 'candy rule' and that the next day, Veterans Day, was the throw-away-day for all this candy...
and then told them that we decided they could eat candy for dinner...
their reaction when we told them they could eat candy for dinner
we took the bowl of candy into the living room, dumped it out and told them to eat up...
...sadly, we have no pictures of this, I think we were still in shock that we were letting them eat candy for dinner that we forgot to photograph the event....
we had 2 rules

  • no fighting
  • if you get sick, make it to the bathroom,
if mom's not making dinner, she's also not cleaning vomit off carpet!

after dumping the bowl of candy on the floor we turned on a movie and let them veg and eat candy...
around 8 pm they were both saying their were hungry
(parenting note: I had advised them to go with the 'protein' candy, stuff with peanut butter and nuts would fill them up better, they ignored this wise counsel!)
so the wonderful mother that I am, I popped them up some popcorn to fill them up!
we have decided that we MIGHT make this a family tradition for Halloween candy and Veterans Day Eve...the kids were so very shocked...they're still talking about it (and probably will for years to come)...
and surprisingly enough they really didn't eat that much candy, they put a small dent in the candy bowl, and were very willing to help me throw it all away the next morning!

campout FAIL

yep, lame-O mom...

campout with the kids in the back yard...

tent set up...check

sleeping bags and pillows...check

game of Uno by lantern....Check

all crash and sleep amazing...check...until 11:30

11:30 crazy wind wakes up crazy paranoid mom...check

crazy paranoid mom lays in tent for an hour listening to crazy wind and imagining crazy drugged out teenagers sneaking through our backyard to steal pot from our neighbors garden...
note...I have no idea if our neighbors are growing pot...but last night at midnight I was totally 100% positive that they had a legit pot garden growing, minus electric fence and man-eating dogs...making it possible for the crazy drugged out teenagers to sneak through OUR backyard hop the fence and steal all their pot...

yeah...so crazy paranoid mom, wakes up kids at midnight-thirty and packs them into the safety of their own beds...oh, and lays in bed hearing the police chopper hovering over our backyard capturing the crazy drugged out teenagers....

crazy paranoid moms finally falls asleep and wakes up to a totally undisturbed tent site in our backyard...
yeah, imagine that...
not one crazy drugged out teenager...
no pot garden in our neighbors backyard....
no police helicopter raid in our backyard....

hmmmm.... example 1007 why I don't watch scary movies...

...and just so you know...kids know nothing about how crazy and paranoid their mom is...
I told them the wind was too much and keeping me awake...

a Heartfelt welcome

or a heartfeltcrocheted welcome
yeah, I'm punny like that, watch out!

I decided to change up the door wreath again...wanted something Valentines'ish so I bought a $1 wreath at the $ store and wrapped it in red yarn...
lets pretend that I cleaned up my porch for this picture...that I don't have a bed frame leaning up against the side of my house and a battered old chair that I will someday refinish and make look really cool!...just be glad I'm not showing you the rest of the porch...SCARY...yeah, not lovely...and since this is a post in honor of love...valentines day...we just won't go there!

I crotched some hearts on a string...heart-strings....and let them dangle from the middle...was thinking of hand writing little love notes of pieces of paper and sticking them around the wreath...but I still haven't gotten around to doing that....(let me know if you want the heart crotchet pattern...very easy).

our entry way shelf...
and since we were pretending about the porch...lets pretend that I dusted before I decorated and took the pictures...
um...yeah...didn't happen...
the cute red mail box, vintage print clip board and 'I love You' milk vase (set of 3) were all from the $ section at Target...
wedding picture is from...our wedding...
and the pink Camilla's are from our tree...love the Camilla tree!

and our heater...I like to decorate the top of our heater, since I don't have a mantel, and a mantel is over a fireplace...I figured the top of my heater was sort of like my mantel...a girl can dream right...
anyways...
my 'vintage' suitcases from Michaels years ago...
Beau's old teddy bear, not sure if it's vintage yet...
the ball of red yarn leftover from making the wreath...
one of the 'I love you' vases...
and the sweet tea valentine'ish towel is from my mother-in-law...

enjoy your month of love...
do you  have any decorations up for St. Valentine?  will you?
